Meditation –
The Gym for Your Mind

As business leaders, our focus and attention are our most valuable resources. Both are easily hijacked, and need to be protected and strengthened. Thankfully, our brains respond to exercise, just like our bodies.

Climbers and lamas in the Himalayas train their attention to become a laser-like focus instrument, enabling them to accomplish amazing feats. As a climber, I have trained my mind to be 100% focused on every move I make. Why? Because I don’t want to fall!

 

The stakes in business might not be life-or-death, but they’re often career-defining. And just like climbing, attention is your number one tool if you want to be a Peak Performer in the Storm.

FACTS:

  • Attention can be trained and that training can be the superpower that make or breaks your career. It’s what separates the really successful CEOs.

  • Training the mind is like training the body. It requires regular exercise.

  • Meditation is the most powerful exercise for focus and attention.

Attention Management skills are what separates a small business owner from an entrepreneur launching the next Uber. These skills don’t come naturally, but are something you can develop.

 

Meditation forces us to focus on the most mundane things, such as our breathing. This “forced” attention is like a gym for our minds. It strengthens the mental muscles that give us the ability to focus.
